Department
Department of Geology & Mining
Project Details
The State of Nagaland is industrially backward and its economy will depend highly on how judiciously and scientifically its limited mineral resources are developed, and at this juncture it is imperative to adopt a pragmatic approach to the issue. However, the land owners in connivance with people who does not have technical knowhow and without sound financial capability are engaged in random and haphazard extraction of minerals in almost all over the State for fast money. The Department of Geology and Mining, Nagaland has been undertaking awareness campaign at various levels on the importance of conservation of minerals as well as the negative impact of such haphazard mining/quarrying activities, however, the activities still persist.
