Project Details
The project will be implemented in 4 villages in the districts of Tuensang and Noklak. The community forest will be to conserved and reserved while mithun enterprise will be a by-product income for the farmers. The project envisages for doubling of Mithun population in the village adopting Mithun based conservation thereby increase the income of the farmers. The project is innovative, since many stand-alone conservation efforts have failed as the livelihood of the communities depending on the protected forest were not taken into consideration. The conservation of community forest where Mithun thrive directly impacts the regeneration of forest and other ecosystem and species dependent on the forest, and simultaneously reduce factors like logging and felling of trees that threaten the ecosystem and protection of catchment area for drinking water and springs.
