There is an uugent need and requirement to construct new godowns for proper and controlled storage of food grains, as the present godowns were constructed in the late 1960's and early 70's with wooden floor and wall and CGI sheet roofing.Thus, all the godowms have been functioning for almost 5 to 6 decades. The godown are in deplorable conditions due to aging infrastructure and repairing such is futile and uneconomical. Due to the dilapidated structure of the godowns the department is facing a lot of hardship in storing foodgrains. There are several reports of foodgrain damages from most of the PDC godowns, because of improper storage facilities.
