Small Hydro Power (SHP) system is ecologically most sustainable operationally flexible with opportunity for peoples' participation in its total life cycle process, t is most suitable for flexible peak load support to local grid systems as well as for independent and standalone applications in isolated remote areas. It has been established that in places where small hydro systems are developed and integrated with the socio-economic peculiarities of the regions concerned, the total multiplier and value added effects, including employment generation and poverty alleviation are very high and so these can become effective catalysts in promoting sustainable development.

Proposed Activities
1. It is envisaged that introduction of the small hydropower to the village will change the village economy, access to reliable renewable energy, strengthen watershed management and lead to sustainable development.2. Create first of its kind ''Community Based Hydro Electricity''. Villages will have community based hydro electricity in their own village run by their own hydro resources leading to self sufficiency in energy 3. This is expected to bring about a change in the mindset of the people and bring about an economic revolution in villages, by facilitating small- scale industries, food processing, tourism facilities and value addition to agriculture/forest produce in all rural villages of Nagaland.
