Project Details
The Dzuna MHP has been conceptualized as a run-off-river scheme in the Dzuna river located at Jotsoma Village, Kohima. The Government of India (Gol) has mandated that all State/Entity has to produce/procure certain percentage of Energy consumed from Renewable energy sources, this is called Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). Under this, there are subgroups of obligation which consists of Solar RPO, Non- Solar RPO and Hydro Purchase Obligation (HPO). The state is somehow able to meet the HPO at the moment. However, due to rapid commercial activities the demand for power is rapidly increasing and is expected to reach 270 MW by the end of 2023 with the present restricted demand of the State being 179 MW. Under this condition, the HPO of the state is also set to increase.
