Project Details
As per the provisions of the waste management rules and Hon'ble National Green Tribunal mandate, legacy waste has to be treated through bioremediation and the land recovered for further useAt present, out of the 399 ULBs, 26 ULBs have legacy waste totalling to approx. 1464710.8 Metric Tons (MT) or 14.647108 Lakh MT*. From this, Dimapur has the maximum amount of legacy waste (an approximation of 10 Lakh MT as on February, 2022*). Being the commercial and transit hub of the State, it also produces the maximum amount of waste per day (120 Tons per day as on February, 2022*). Aggravating the problem is the outlet of drains flowing directly into the river, and the floating population or residents residing near the river, who utilize the river for disposing waste.
