There is large-scale reportage of depletion of springs in Tuensang region witnessing a fall in average annual rainfall, it is expected that spring-discharge is likely to fall drastically in the next few year. Moreover, springs are also under threat from intensive land use in the springshed (wood cutting, agriculture, anthropogenic fire etc Degradation of the springshed reduces groundwater recharge and consequently the storage in the aquifer. Therefore these traditional and sustainable sources of water are being lost almost everywhere that they occur,
