Solar energy use renewable energy instead of fossil fuels, reducing the carbon emissions and energy expenditure of traditional lights. Jhum cultivation which was hitherto the main occupation of the villagers has failed to provide the required income to the villagers. Villagers are now shifting to cash crops. However the short shelf life of such crops coupled with the almost non existent storage facilities has discouraged the large scale cultivation of cash crops for proper marketing and hampered the export of such crops outside the village/ district. Building a cold storage will go a long way in helping farmers to preserve their produce until proper market linkages are found thus saving them from exploitation and wastage of produce
