Nagaland is a deficit budget state, totally dependent on the central government to fund all its activities. Majority of the grant received from the center is utilized for salary and pension and minuscule amount is utilized for development purposes. This is not sufficient to cater to the requirements of people. The challenges faced by our state can to a great extent be addressed by providing steady and regular sources of income to a fast growing population in an integrated One such approach is by conducting skill oriented training, preparing skilled manpower as well as training the vocational and skill oriented people in various fields as per the demands ofthe self-employed to support in poverty alleviation, Low skills perpetuate poverty and inequality. When done right, skills development can reduce un- and underemployment, increase productivity, and improve standards of living. Helping people develop and update their skills makes economic sense. The Working Shed will be part of platform to enhance the skill and make the women ready to live a life that is both fruitful financially and independent. The Working Shed is proposed to be located at Naga United Village, Chumukedima District of Nagaland. The Working Shed will be used for the following purposes:-
1.Training to women for self-employment
2.Providing shelter to widows
3.Looking after unwed mothers
4.Empowerment of women through self-help groups

Proposed Activities
1.To provide trade skills to women across the districts from the lower income bracket involved in weaving, handicrafts etc.2.To set up SHG's to empower groups of women in economic activities. 3. To provide food and shelter to widows and unwed mothers 4. Training will be given to approximately 200 women, Girls in a year in the fields of weaving, tailoring, knitting, food preservation,mushroon cultivation,housekeeping(hotel industry), floriculture and basket making.
