Project Details
Poor infrastructure is key obstacle to development in Longleng district with 71.43 per cent had proper electricity, while 28.57 per cent did not have that facility Infrastructure. Large numbers of schools in Longleng run without better infrastructural facilities such as power. Due to the instability of power supply, the students have to attend the class with excessive humidity without the fan. The situation is most alarming in the schools located in the areas of the district, this clearly points out towards the need to establish a set of priorities in equipping schools with infrastructure and also the need to give urgent attention to ensuring the provision of basic facilities. There is improved quality of light with electricity compared to Kerosene as well as safety and health concerns. Schools can also be used in the evenings for training and other extracurricular activities. Students lacking lighting in the home can stay at school to study and teachers can prepare for lessons and carry out administrative tasks. Power provision made it possible for teachers to provide extra teaching in early mornings and late evenings to make up for material not adequately covered during normal teaching hours. Solar electrification is expected to bring a number of social and economic benefits including improvements in security through street lighting, increased access to communication technologies, and increased outcomes in areas related to public service delivery including health and education.
