Project Details
A ranking of the North Eastern States on key maternal and child health and healthcare indicators often places Nagaland at the bottom of the list. Nagaland is ranked the lowest amongst the Northeast States in case of institutional delivery and full immunization coverage. The state of primary healthcare service utilization is a huge concern across rural areas of Nagaland. Longleng district is a remote district comprising of 63 Villages with very poor accessibility to public transport facilities and people have to travel long distances to avail even the basic medical care, coupled with bad road conditions which is a hindrance during medical emergencies. For instance, delay in reaching to an appropriate healthcare facility is one of the prime reasons for maternal death and infant mortality. The healthcare system of the District is limited to the primary care which again in some remote healthcare centre lacks even the basic healthcare facilities. Such incapacities need to be taken into consideration during formulation of policies so that effective and dedicated programmes and measures come in place, which would bring about improvements in healthcare system in the District. There is a need for effective long-term and integrated infrastructure planning so as to promote overall well-being of the general population in the District. The project proposes to provide Ambulance services to remote areas of Longleng district and provide technical support to the staffs of proposed medical centers for quick delivery of medical assistance. It aims to initiate infrastructural development of healthcare facilities, provide medical equipments and boost up the service delivery and accessibilities in the district. Such interventions will improve the diagnostic and management capacity in the District.
