Tseminyu is economically underdeveloped. A majority of rural population have limited avenues for income generation and livelihood productivity. Financially dependent women in particular often find themselves on the margins in this area. Also, senior citizens from poor financial background in the villages often find it difficult to fend for themselves or their families as they advance in age. Meat consumption is consistently high in the state as a whole. In fact, Nagaland is amongst the top per capita consumers of pork in the country, with most of its pork meat requirements sourced from outside the state. Along with piggery, poultry is an economically viable farming. Enabling the rural women and senior citizens from financially disadvantaged background to take up piggery and poultry through an infusion of initial seed money will go a long way in economically empowering them and in turn benefitting the general consumers and the economic activities of the state. Given the absence of fund from other sources at present, active CSR intervention into this project becomes a much-needed solution to this twin project.
