Project Details
Safe drinking water is a scarce resource. Tseminyu, like many hilly places, is water deficient. Many households under Tseminyu Town and Villages do not have piped water connection or convenient access to clean potable water, either from the government water supply or from natural water sources. The practice of collecting and storing rainwater on a big, sustainable scale in Tseminyu is not common. Rainwater, despite being the cleanest natural source of water and having vast utility value, is unable to be harvested at the community level and stored for subsequent use. One of the main reasons being the absence of dedicated funding source. Other sources of water for drinking and domestic purpose are limited and gradually depleting. Harvesting rainwater and conserving it as a water bank for use by community members offers a very practical, convenient and relatively inexpensive solution to water deficient areas like Tseminyu. Therefore, the project for community rainwater harvesting is proposed through CSR fund initiative.
