The absence of a functional library with adequate books in an environment conducive to learning stands as a hindrance in the progress of education and learning for the students and public of Chumoukedima district. A functional library would provide the students with free access to various books and literature to augment their knowledge and learning and encourage the youth to develop a healthy habit of reading The students of almost thirty private and government schools in the area of Chumukedima town would directly benefit in availing supplementary reading materials. Many Colleges and universities such as the ICFAI, Patkai St Josephs and NIIT would also be benefitted, including many research scholars as well as the general public. There is a dearth of good functional libraries in the district and state. The project will aid in encouraging the youth and the general public to inculcate the habit of reading and will improve the quality of learning
