Upgradation of existing Government Hr. Secondary School infrastructure
Department
District Administration
Project Details
The GHSS Chumukedima was established as a middle school in a building donated by the ONGC in 1983. It further went on to be upgraded to a high school and later on to a Higher Secondary School in the year 2007. Since it was established to house only a middle school , it has now become difficult for the same infrastructure to facilitate the needs of a higher secondary school with an increasing public pressure for admissionsevery year. Middle School established in 1983, upgraded to higher secondary in 2007. Total students =530, Total functional classrooms =12, Classes functioning from class 7 to 12).The roof of one wing of the old building collapsed in a storm last year and it now stands as a safety hazard for the students. The loss of a few classrooms in this accident has increased the pressure of accommodation of the students. Only 12 functional classes are posing problematic in classroom management for a higher secondary especially since the school also serves as an exam centre school for the board exams and also acts as a sub unit of distribution for the Nagaland Board of School Educations documents. The schools consistent good performance in the board exams of HSLC and HSSLC every year serves as an impetus to a mounting public pressure to seek for admissions. The school which is a lone Govt higher sec school in the area has to cater to accommodating economically weak students seeking free and quality education).
