Solar Electrification of Schools, Colleges and Health facilities
Department
District Administration
Project Details
The government schools in the district lack proper electrification coupled with irregular, low and fluctuating power voltage causing inconveniences to the students and school administration for a long haul. Though most of the health facilities are electrified, the power supply is erratic and sometimes goes off for weeks subsequently affecting the basic functioning of health facilities and hampering vaccine chain management resulting in high wastage
Area of Operations

Thematic Area
Renewable Energy Solutions
Targeted Beneficiaries
BPL, children, rural, youth.
Proposed Activities
● The amount saved on electricity bills can be utilized in activities Vis-à-vis
education, developing infrastructure and sensitization about renewable energy solutions.
● To connect schools located in remote areas with robust and easily available power supply providing rural children the opportunity to access latest educational facilities and system eventually resulting in eliminating the gap between schools in cities and villages.
● Solar electrification will allow schools to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions
(approximately 40% of global CO2 greenhouse gas emissions are from electricity generation through the combustion of fossil fuel to generate heat needed to power steam.
