Project Details
● The project is proposed on the gap analysis to understand and evaluate the developmental gaps in the district. The proposed project is far from satisfactory and availability of services is inadequate. The project will be implemented in Chida Lake, Khezhakeno to augment infrastructural shortcomings. Every year thousands of International, National, Local Tourist visits Chida Lake to have a glance of the magnificent natural scenic beauty. But so far, there is no such facility to receive and accommodate the tourist for lodging and fooding. The project is proposed for establishment of Tourist Amenity at Chida Lake in Khezhakeno.
● The Nagaland Government having felt the need to tap in the natural beauty of the Chida Lake and its surrounding areas covered in lush geen landscapes and gently curved valleys, started the Peoples’ Festival as part of the International Hornbill Festival in collaboration with the Tourism Department and the local village bodies. It may be mentioned that as per statistical data available to the local village youth organisation, Chida Lake alone had about 300 to 400 tourists visiting every day during the peak season in the month of December and January 2021-2022. Further, Khezhakeno Village being considered as the Village from where many tribes in Nagaland trace their origin, there are many historical sites and legends which serves as a hotspot for both researchers as well as tourists to visit the Area
● Poor infrastructure is key obstacle to development in Phek district with lack of proper infrastructure. The project has been proposed with a focus on solving the challenges and constraints in the area with key focus to promote tourism. Improving tourism sector in this district with maintenance and through establishment of Tourist Amenity will help the villagers and tourist visiting the district to a great extent.

Proposed Activities
● To encourage development of home stays to tackle the lack of sufficient, clean and proper tourist accommodation to ensure sustainable development.
● Promote rural tourism.
● To widen infrastructure for tourism development and its accessibilities
● To ensure availability of basic services at a reasonable cost to the society.
● The proposed project aims for the following components to be constructed: Security, Naga Kitchen, Watch Tower, Cottages, Dormitory, Landscaping, public convenience, Illumination, Cafeteria, Tourist Reception Centre, MICE-Convention Hall and Parking Lot.
