Longra village is situated at 26°, 40' N, 94°.70 E geo-coordinate and at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level. It falls under Noksen Sub-Division of Tuensang District, Nagaland. The Village is bordering Longleng District on the north and Mokokchung District on the West. Nearest Airport and Railway to the village are located at Jorhat, Assam which is 155 kms. There are 236 households and 1,734 populations in the village as per census, 2011, Longra is well-known in the district for production of the best quality paddy and preservation of Stag within its community forest. Orange, molasses and other organic Agro products are also found here in plenty. Longra is one of the many villages adopted by the Eleutherous Christian Society, (ECS) in the District for support community development. The ECS has provided rain water harvesting RCC tank of 7 (seven) thousand litres and safe toilet to each and every households of the village and also assisted in orange farming and piggery to mention a few.One of the nature’s greatest blessings for Longra village is Mokden Lake – a vast natural water body measuring 2.5 hectares, situated near Dikhu River at an altitude of 430 meters above sea level, this mighty lake remained untapped for many decades since time immemorial. The village leaders have been trying to construct a community fishery pond there but could not do anything due to lack of financial resources for a long time. It was only during the period 2015-2016 that the thick foliage was cleared and heavy deposits of silt was removed from the lake being funded under MGNREGA program and a community Fishery Pond was constructed. However, a lot more still remain uncompleted due to financial constraints without which the real benefit of the project will still remain untapped.
