Project Details
Mhayan is a medium size village located Wokha District, Nagaland with about 59 household families residing. The Mhayan village has a total population of 286 of which 147 are males while 139 are females as per Population Census 2011. Mhayan Village falls under the category of backward & underdeveloped area which is a reality on ground in comparison to the other areas of the State. The economic condition of the people is poor as compared to the living standards of the people of other areas in Nagaland. The backwardness of the area could be attributed to the lack of proper planning of the area which has failed to cater the socio-economic development of the people. A special mechanism may need to be evolved for the upliftment of the area which may require a strategic and innovative approach. The developmental plan of the State does not seem to have much impact in the development of the area. Thus, there is a requirement of special fund provision for the development of the area to meet the developmental gap through various infrastructure development projects/Schemes.There is no water supply scheme in Mhayan village Area which is the basic necessity for human survival. Presently, the people of the area rely on rainwater harvesting and potable water, to meet their daily requirements. Also, Mhayan village have huge deficiency of fresh water supply and face scarcity of even drinking water. The village have been reeling under extreme difficulties during dry season due to shortage of drinking water and fetching drinking water from a very far distance of about 7 Km. The villagers are dependent on rain water for drinking purpose and it is an impending needs of the village to have drinking water facilities in the village. The present proposal for Drinking water supply by Deep Tube Well (DTW) with Iron Removal Plant (IRP) is a need for the villagers and detail study had been carried out on the availability of water source. Therefore, it is proposed for Deep Tube Well (DTW) with Iron Removal Plant (IRP) to ensure availability of drinking water. The geographical Location of the proposed project site is 26°24'3.09"N and 94°16'16.73"E.
