District Administration
Project Details
Solar energy has started playing an increasingly important role for augmentation of grid power, providing energy access and reducing consumption of fossil fuels. The need of solar power is seen rising in the rural areas, as these areas are highly dependent upon grid power, which is very erratic. Once the power is shut down due to natural calamities or technical snags, it takes hours and often days to restore it. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to the people in their works. Due to non-availability of solar lighting, there is limited movement of people in the village after dark. The condition is even worse at the District headquarters as they face frequent power cuts affecting timely completion of public works, failing delivery of services to its customer/public. In addition, there is no provision to support installation of Solar Power plant in any of the government schemes given the financial condition of the state. Therefore, the project is proposed for installation of 20 KW Solar Power Plant (off grid) at Deputy commissioner Office in Zunheboto district to ensure improvement in the quality of public services provided to the people at large. Availability of assured and continuous power supply is also expected to bring a number of social and economic benefits including improvements in security through street lighting, increase productivity and quality of village artisans, cottage industries, increased access to communication technologies, and increased outcomes in areas related to public service delivery including health and education.Further the Election Department, PHED, District Transport Office, Food & Civil Supplies office and Project Director DRDA are attached with the Deputy Commissioner’s Office complex.
