Department
District Administration
Project Details
Computers and computerized devices have become an integral part of society. It has become imperative to know basic computer skills to survive in the world. Underprepared students are entering college with multiple barriers such as lack of basic computer skills, lack of language skills, internet knowledge etc. Students should acquire basic computer skills that equip themselves with the knowledge to operate a computer, sending emails, conducting Internet research for educational purposes, creating word processing documents and creating presentations. These basic computer skills help students excel in college and eventually carry over with them into the workforce. Exercising and advancing computer literacy skills can also lead to greater opportunities. Not only is it important to know how to use a computer to conduct Internet research, but it is also vital to understand computer ethics. Honoring copyright laws, avoiding plagiarism, citing sources and following Internet etiquette will help with the school & college courses. In rural areas most parents cannot afford to send their children to the cities for their education whereas the schools in rural areas do not have access to computer and internet. Therefore being in a digital world it has become essential to impart computer knowledge to the students.
