The capital city of Kohima is fast growing and there is an acute shortage of open spaces which are inclusive/ open for people of all age groups and abilities. The lifestyle of the people is sedentary and there is very high incidence of diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, anxiety and depression among people of all age groups. There are many reported cases of paediatric learning disability, autism and inhibition of children’s ability to observe and experience the typical activities they need to engage in to learn about the world around them as a direct result of excessive screen time. Due to the hilly terrain, the very few available open spaces are not friendly for the differently-abled, especially those with locomotor disabilities/ mobility devices.
Objectives of the Project:
● Interactive and Immersive space using purposeful activities to ensure physical and mental exercises for the body and mind.
● Ensure unexpected interaction between people who play and move together with interactive installations.
● Ensure children and adults alike get off the screens and engage in active interactive outdoor activities.
● Make Fitness activities exciting for children with inclusion of interactive games to engage in physical challenges with friends and promote team building and tactical play to sharpen the mind.
● Ensure outdoor learning play activities which is essential for mental, physical, social and emotional development of children.
● Ground level interactive play activities for people with mobility devices.
● Ensure both learning and bonding between the parents and the children through interactive playing amenities.
