There has been a dramatic shift in the girl-boy ratio during the last 10 years in the enrolment in the college. Today the number of girl students far exceeds that of boy students in enrolment. Since most students are primarily from financially poor background, private accommodation is beyond their means and those that are compelled to stay in private hostels face tremendous difficulty. Such constraints may affect their further progression in higher level of study. A construction of girls’ hostel with provisions of scholarships to avail accommodation will help girl students from poor backgrounds.
